I’ve been sharing new cards all month using Karen Burniston’s new Journey Pop `n Cuts collection and today I’ve got a tutorial featuring some of those fabulous dies.
Notice the card shape? It’s the new Square with Ornate Edge base die! Awesome right? I was so happy there was a new base shape and the square is fantastic with that cool edge. It works just the same as the original base die, all the inserts fit right inside. I also used the Label Window PNC Insert, the Edge and Scrolls Bigz Die, and the Butterflies and Labels Bigz die.
Making the card
Insert your Label Window PNC into the Square base die and make sure your tick marks line up. Add patterned paper, sandwich with your extended cutting pads and run through your Big Shot machine. Fold your insert just like you would a regular PNC. (The small label would be the top fold in the directions).
Cut two edge pieces out of cardstock using the Edge and Scroll Bigz die.
Glue your edge pieces to the outside of your PNC card base. The edge coordinates with the Label Window PNC so it matches perfectly when the card is closed.
Using your Square with Ornate Edge base die, create an inside decorating piece for your card using coordinating patterned paper. The finished piece will be approximately 5” x 3”.
Adhere your decorating pieces to the inside right portion of your card (trim if necessary). Add a strip of patterned paper that is 5” x 1/2” to cover the seem of the coordinating paper.
Die cut a large and small label using the Butterflies and Labels Bigz Die. Stamp and color images and sentiment onto labels (I used a couple different sets from Lawn Fawn… they’re all super cute!).
This Bigz die was made to coordinate with the Label Window PNC as well as the Butterfly Window PNC (not shown).
Adhere your label pieces to the label shapes on the Label Window PNC. Outline around the two pieces with a black pen.
With the new Label Window Pop `n Cuts, when your card is folded closed, you see the image on the front of your card. When you open your card, you see the same image on the inside as well. It does not flip, it lifts to give a different view. Cool, huh?
I love, love, LOVE the new Label Window PNC insert! Karen is a genius! I am thankful everyday day that we live close to each other (8 minutes apart, yo!), talk daily, and get to hang out on a regular basis. Not only is she a pop `n cuts designing genius, she’s one of my best friends. Love ya Karen! You rock!
